Alison and I are tremendously proud that all of our current and regular venues have asked us to bring Ruby’s to them – well, this is our latest venue and the next one up in our timetable for this year.
A few months ago we had a phonecall from Compton Verney Art Gallery & Park, an elegant Palladian villa set in “Capability” Brown gardens so we shot up the M40 and 15 minutes off Junction 12 or 13 is this wonderful place.
They are currently holding an exhibition called Britain in the Fifties: Design & Aspiration which opened on 9th July and we are part of their Vintage Day on August 6th.
This has been an interesting exercise in curating a vintage event as we will be in rooms with artwork worth millions of pounds in the walls, also a strong 1950s vibe is required. We knew that some of our stallholders specialise in this era and we have some fabulous stalls for you including a lady who is completely new to selling but is downsizing her personal collection of mid century homewares. Lucky she rang us at exactly the right time!
The Fair opens at 11am and you can enjoy the gardens and the other activities including live music and dancing, W.I. sewing demonstrations, a 1950s allotment, retro beauty makeovers, vintage vehicles as well as looking around the exhibition which is beautifully arranged with Ercol furniture, Sanderson wallpapers and fabrics, 1950s fashions and lots more.
There is also an exhibition called BBC Faces of Comedy so you get all of this for the price of one admission ticket!
