Ruby went to Hastings

On Sunday 16th August Ruby’s Vintage and Retro Fair was at The White Rock Theatre in Hastings and didn’t we have a beautiful day for it!

The sun was out most of the day and there were people queueing to get in when we opened at 10am. The event was publicised by the White Rock, both in their brochure and online plus posters in the foyer, we advertised in the local papers as well as nationally for the first time in Homes & Antiques magazine no less!

Local shops kindly displayed posters and leaflets plus “Hastings Voice” and other local organisations and individuals re-tweeted for us. The local Tourist Information centre had leaflets too.

All this paid off and we had well over 450 visitors. Some came dressed in vintage and looked splendid. We were delighted when local shop owners came to visit- Madeleine from Arthur Green’s just along from the White Rock and ladies from Calneva in the High Street who went off delighted with the purchases they had made.

We had a wide range of Stallholders selling high quality vintage clothes, shoes, china and glass, furniture. We also had vinyl on sale and plenty of jewellery. We were very grateful to those of our lovely regulars who made long journeys to come to Hastings and to all our new Stallholders. It was a fantastic display by all.

The Vintage Tea Room run by the White Rock were busy the whole day and ran out of cakes! Steve Conway, our wonderful singer, kept all entertained throughout the event. He performed both in the Sussex Room and in the tea room area – the atmosphere was just wonderful.

3 lovely ladies, Reenie, Melanie(with Barney the dog) and Enid, stayed with us for most of the day, they enjoyed it so much. Thanks for your lovely comments, ladies. The staff at The White Rock couldn’t have been more helpful. We wish we could mention everyone by name but there are too many.

Ruby will definitely return to Hastings!
