Ruby’s at Abingdon Guildhall 29th November 2014

RubyTooAb

RubyToo made her first appearance at one of our Fairs – she is Ruby’s older, slightly racier sister and took over at short notice when it was noticed that Ruby’s waterpump was leaking.  Not a good sign with a trundle up the A34 in prospect.  So bundled up in thick jacket, scarf and gloves, Vic (Lyn’s husband and Abingdon stallholder traffic liasion officer) set off from home and arrived in record time!

She sat outside the Guildhall and attracted a lot of attention from lovely young ladies (photos will be posted if permission is given) and passersby alike.

Due to unprecedented demand from our stallholders, Ruby’s Vintage & Retro Fair was in three rooms within the Guildhall this time – the main Abbey Hall, the Roysse Room and the Council Chamber.  We thought that we had put enough signage up to the new room, but we found out afterwards that despite our directions, some people missed it all together and unfortunately didn’t manage to visit the 10 stallholders there.

Nevertheless, a good time was had by all and we had a steady flow of eager vintage lovers who browsed the many stalls full of high quality vintage and retro items.  We didn’t have much menswear this time which was mentioned by a few disappointed chaps so we will rectify that for our next event in March 2015.

Lianna Haynes, fresh from Las Vegas,  entertained us throughout the day and the Guildhall pop-up tea room kept pace with home made cakes from the W.I.  Carli Morris was snowed under with requests for retro make-overs and many young ladies were glimpsed looking impossibly glamorous shopping with rollers in their hair ready to be combed out later!

This was our last event for 2014 so Lyn and Alison would like to thank all of our customers who visited us in our three venues and also our wonderful stallholders who support us in so many ways.

We hope to see you in 2015 but keep an eye on the website and our Facebook page for updates and other information about Ruby’s Vintage & Retro Fairs.
