News from the Personnel Front

It’s been a while since this website was updated but that’s mainly because we have been waiting to have some news to tell you and also because we were aiming to have a shiny new website design as well.  Unfortunately, this hasn’t actually happened but it is planned for 2019.

On the personnel front, one of the organisers, Alison, is taking a step back from Ruby’s due to her new job at a posh kitchen design company as well as family issues and with the same serendipity that saw Alison take early retirement from her pharmaceutical career at the same time as Yvonne, one of the original co-founders was moving to live and work in Shanghai, Yvonne is now back in the UK and taking early retirement from her career in the perfumery industry and is raring to get back into the vintage world.

So Yvonne Hockey is now back on board at Ruby’s from January 2019 onwards!

We will be having our first planning meeting in the New Year but in the meantime, please put the dates of 6th/7th July for the Millets Farm Centre weekend in your diary as well as that of 14th/15th September for the Hughenden Manor 1940s weekend

I’m sure you would like to join me in thanking Alison for all her hard work and cheerfulness during her time at Ruby’s and to welcome Yvonne back for more vintage loveliness!

2017 in Review and on to 2018

First of all, a very Happy New Year to all of our readers, visitors, stallholders and fans!

Thinking about our events in 2017, it was a mixed year – we’ve had some very successful and enjoyable days and some that were not so much….

There has been a continuing downturn in visitor numbers (although we appreciate each and every one of you)  and also spending is still careful from vintage lovers but we realise this is general across the vintage world so what is the solution?

We don’t know – and if you do, please be kind enough to share it with us!

Seriously, the plan for 2018 is to concentrate on events where Ruby’s Vintage Fair is part of a bigger picture such as the Sandhurst Military College Open Day, Millets Farm Centre and a couple of very exciting venues that we are in discussions with now.

So please add the following dates to your diaries:

Sunday 17th June – Sandhurst Military College Heritage Open Day, Camberley

Sunday 24th June – Yattendon Classic Vehicle Day near Newbury

Saturday 7th/Sunday 8th July – Millets Farm Centre near Abingdon read more

November is Here!

Welcome to November vintage lovers!

The run up to Christmas (yes – we are allowed to say that word now) is usually the busiest time for vintage sellers apart from the summer festival season and Ruby’s is no exception.

Lyn and Alison have 2 events during this month – Sunday 19th November sees us back at the Old Town Hall in High Wycombe and then we are at Our Lady’s Abingdon School on Saturday 25th November.

Lyn is also selling at various other vintage events and will have new stock from the USA including a selection of beautiful 1950s Lucite handbags!

You may have noticed that we’ve been a bit quiet on the social media front – that’s because Lyn has been away in the USA for a few weeks.  She is now back and all communications, social media and the like will be all systems go between now and the 25th!

If you are a vintage stallholder, we do have space left at our Old Town Hall event so email us on for more details.  Our Abingdon event is completely full and we are running a waiting list.

We will also be starting to take bookings for our summer events from now plus discussing our complete schedule for 2018 so please watch this space.

Summer Break

Your Organising team now have the rest of the “summer” off before returning to the vintage fray with 2 events in November:

Sunday 19th November at the Old Town Hall, High Wycombe – we are about 2/3 full but still plenty of time to book with us.  Parking is FREE on a Sunday!

Saturday 25th November at Our Lady’s Abingdon School, Abingdon – all spaces now booked but please contact us on if you would like to go on the waiting list.

Let us know if you would like a space there to sell vintage or retro items or just put the dates in your diary to come along and shop.

See you soon!

Ruby’s at Yattendon Classic Vehicle Day

Sunday 25th June is the date and Yattendon in Berkshire is the place!

This pretty village will be host to plenty of vintage vehicles, military machines, agricultural tractors, old motorbikes and modern classic cars – plus of course, Ruby’s Vintage & Retro Fair!

Last year, we were in the medieval barn – this year we are sharing the village hall with Laura’s Travelling Teapot.  So walk up the lane from the display field and just past the church is our wonderful village hall.

We have some great stallholders for you including

Carnation Collectables with Erstwilder jewellery and bespoke circle skirts and waistcoats

Hidden Treasures with true vintage clothes and repro dresses in all sizes

Transport ephemera from Andy Puncheon

Vintage jewellery from LovesVintage43

and so much more

We will also have some stalls in the display field including Julie’s Kitsch ‘n’ Things, the Sherbert Piglet selling retro sweeties, Isabella’s Trinkets with amazing retro crafts and Derek Evans selling Autombilia and jumble.

Entry is free so no excuse!

Set your Satnav for Yattendon RG18 0UR and see you there from 11am

Sunshine at Sandhurst!

Well, it’s forecast to be that rare event – a hot day with lots of sunshine this Sunday when we will be at The Royal Military Academy Sandhurst Heritage Open Day.

Ruby’s will be in the big marquee opposite the craft tent – we are hoping it’s not going to be too stuffy in there but we will ensure we have plenty of water to hand.

The marquee will be packed full of the best vintage and retro sellers we could find – there will be true vintage dresses and repro dresses of all kinds, gentlemen’s suits and accessories, vintage jewellery and accessories, homewares, kitchenalia, linens, collectables and so much more.

You will be able to get a retro beauty makeover from Treena and then have a taster photographic session from the Pop Up Pin Up Studio.

Music will be playing all day – a selection of vinyl from Peter Strange and then the sound of swing from Steve Conway.

Entry to the whole event is free and the day starts at 11am

Come and say hello!
